What Happens When Men Can’t Say ‘I Am Not Ok’
What Happens When Men Can’t Say ‘I Am Not Ok’
Most men aren’t taught emotional language. They’re taught:
- Stay strong
- Fix it
- Don’t feel too much
- Be useful, not vulnerable
So what happens when a man feels sad, lost, afraid, ashamed? Often, it gets masked as:
- Anger
- Numbness
- Overworking
- Substance use
What helps:
- Learning the difference between feelings and behaviours
- Having safe space to say “I don’t know what I feel”
- Naming small internal shifts (tension, tightness, heat)
- Working with therapists who don’t expect instant emotional fluency
You don’t need to “talk about your feelings” perfectly. You need to not carry them alone.
