Welcome
I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist working in Thame, Oxfordshire where I have a quiet, comfortable and easily accessible consulting room.
NEW! My learning platform is now online. Watch for special offers, but check out what is there that may be of interest to you. More will be added! Check it out here.
If you are insured through AXA, BUPA, Cigna or WPA, I am a provider for them. Please ensure you get an authorisation from them to enable me to see you for counselling.
Counselling offers you the experience of talking with a skilled helper, who provides a comfortable space for you to freely explore a difficulty which may be of concern to you. As a counsellor I provide you with a strong level of support to help you work towards a solution, best suited to your situation. Whatever the difficulty, you are always assured understanding and non-judgement. For a lot of clients it is so much easier to speak to a stranger then any friend or family member.
Sometimes it is just about being listened to and having a counsellor's undivided attention can really help.
Clients very often feel they do not want to burden a family member or a friend, so talking to a stranger is often a better option.
Check out a short video where I introduce myself here and also a short video to help you understand what happens at your first session here.
Fundamental to my approach is the belief that with the right support, we all have the potential to continue to change and grow throughout our lives. By understanding ourselves and taking responsibility for our feelings we can find greater happiness. To decide to come to counselling takes courage but it can be the first step on a journey of self-awareness, healing and fulfilment.
How can Counselling help?
To be human means we will, at some time, go through periods of emotional pain, distress or unhappiness. Normally we are able to cope and get through these with or without help of friends or family.
But sometimes these thoughts can overwhelm us and have a negative impact on our health, well being, relationship and our enjoyment of life. We can feel stuck, alone and lost. Sometimes this can make it very difficult to share your feelings with others and can lead to a deep sense of isolation and low mood. This is where a stranger, the counsellor, can help you make sense of things and work towards resolving issues by discussing what is going on for you right now.
