About Me

Mirella Fox, BSc (Hons) Psychology, Adlerian Diploma in Counselling

My name is Mirella and after having worked at a local GP surgery, l am now running my private practice from Thame, Oxfordshire. I started my counselling journey after receiving my Psychology degree. After attending a few workshops, I decided this was the perfect fit for me! My training has been through Adlerian Counselling which is known for its common sense approach and I love that!

Alfred Adler worked with Sigmund Freud until they decided to go their separate ways. To learn more about the Adlerian approach, check out this link here to read more.

I am fully insured and enhanced DBS checked. As the counselling profession is unregulated I am part of a registered body who have verified me as having the right training and experience. They have also given me accredited status for which I had to do an extra piece of work showing more experience and to show them how I work with my clients. This regulatory body is called the BACP and I adhere to their ethical guidelines. As part of this I have regular supervision to ensure I am working to the best of my ability with my clients.

I see individuals from age 16 upwards as well as couples.

Being open and honest is a corner stone of my practise and I meet all my clients with a warm and genuine approach whilst ensuring sessions are focused, well balanced and professional. I use a range of techniques and tools which are tailored to your individual needs. At times, some clients may not be able to verbalise how they feel or what is going on in their life. My creative approach may help to express this in different ways.

Working this way, I am able to fit the therapy to your needs rather than being restricted to one set of ‘tools’. At times recalling childhood memories is a great way to have access to unconscious values/beliefs that may no longer suit you in the present day so we can explore this in much more depth too.

On a more personal note, I love animals and have cats and a dog at home. Also online games are another interest of mine and sometimes I find these can be great talking points to help new clients overcome their initial nerves when coming for a first session.  I love meeting new people and have a desire to help as many people as I can whilst I can.
