The Body-Mind Connection Week 1

You’re Not Lazy — You’re Burnt Out in a Way No One Talks About

If you’re waking up exhausted, snapping at people you love, and struggling to get through basic tasks—this isn’t laziness. It might be burnout, but not the kind you see on corporate wellness posters.

This is emotional burnout that shows up when:

  • You’re constantly regulating other people’s emotions
  • You’re expected to perform while also being “fine”
  • You never get a real break from caregiving, survival stress, or hypervigilance

Symptoms include:

  • Short fuse over small things
  • Brain fog
  • Digestive issues
  • Crying randomly or feeling completely numb

Your nervous system has a finite capacity. When the stress never stops and recovery never happens, your body starts shutting things down to conserve energy.

What helps:

  • Track energy leaks (people, tasks, emotional labour)
  • Practice micro-boundaries (saying no to “just one more thing”)
  • Cut stimulation: less noise, less screen time, more stillness
  • Get 7-9 hours of sleep minimum

Recovery isn’t self-indulgent. It’s survival.
