Spring 2022 Newsletter Edition
Welcome to the Spring edition of my Well Being Newsletter with updates!
It’s the middle of April as I am writing this and Spring seems to be on the way!
If you asked me 8 months ago about walking, I would have said walking is not for me at all and I have been saying that since my parents used to walk with me when I was a kid! I have tried very hard to avoid walking, as exercise, for a long time, till November last year. Then something happened to put me in a very different mindset about walking.
A cute Goldendoodle puppy joined the household! Since then, walking was a ‘must do’ at first, however after a month or so I started to enjoy it! To train this puppy and teach him so many things has been an exciting challenge. Walking has only been a small part of the change in my life. Walking has become a part of my life I never thought possible. Morale of the story, people can change their mindset for many reasons. Change is always possible! My simple ‘enjoy walking’ mindset has turned into more positive changes around healthy lifestyle including food and exercise!
Change is hard and many of my clients enter the counselling room telling me life is complex and what they need is change, however saying it is the easy part, doing it and taking action is the hardest challenge. Think about the things you want to change in your life, write them down and then start to make plan on how these can be achieved. If you need further help, I can help and support you, just pop me an email on email@example.com .
In the current climate things have become unsettled again with the Ukraine/Russia devastating war. Many people are suffering there, but it is also heart-warming to see the effort made by many people to provide much needed food and supplies for others much worse of then them.
Closer to home, lockdown restrictions seem to have been lifted and the government want us to return to some kind of normal. It’s been a very tough 2 years for most of us and as we come out of the pandemic some of us have been left with changes in our lives, our relationships or maybe even our workplace. Some of us were able to work from home but there are many companies who are wanting their employees to return to the workplace in a face-to-face capacity.
Mentally, the last two years has seen people feeling anxiety, unrest and a general unsettledness or unease. Working at home may have had some advantages in not having to travel anywhere and being able to work a little more on your own timetable. But also maybe working from home might have meant less breaks and work carrying on much later as you are ‘just at home’ and there is just so many things to take care of. People may have been working later into the evening then they may have done if they had to leave the workplace at a certain time. There are many positives and negatives to being furloughed or working from home. If you do struggle with all the changes, please get in contact with me if you feel you need to talk to somebody. Remember you are not alone!
As far as other news goes, some of you may or may not have been aware that where I was conducting my face-to-face sessions in Chinnor had to stop due to the building having been sold. It was a challenge finding another, suitable location but I did find two locations from which I can now work, which are the Thame Barns Centre as well as The Practice. Both in the centre of Thame and easily accessible. In both locations the rooms are welcoming and warm, so if you are ready to have face to face counselling, make contact and we can arrange a face-to-face session.
In line with increased room hire charges, my prices have gone up, unfortunately. Working on Zoom, from home using online video links, has not increased in cost, but face to face sessions have gone up to £68.00 for a 50 minute session. There are concessions available for low-income clients, so if this is you, please get in touch and we can make arrangements if eligible. There are also offers on the website with which you can save on sessions by prepaying. I see individuals as well as couples, check out my website for updates and free stuff. www.mirelllafoxcounselling.co.uk .
Please keep an eye on my website as well as my Facebook page as I am there supporting you as much as I can. Please share and like my page on:
